European Studies Winter School will be developed for students of local and regional HEIs who do not have European Studies as part of their curriculum. Its aim is to disseminate information about the EU, its legal, political and economic system. European Studies Winter School will be open to local and regional young civic activists and NGO’s representatives, including rural areas of Western Ukraine. The need for this initiative is determined by increasing civic activism at local and regional levels, where in the result of the decentralization reforms local communities become more powers to regulate their life. However, very often local population lacks basic knowledge about the EU, European integration process generally and about the possibilities for local communities regarding the introduction of EU standards and practices locally.
