WORKSHOP "EU COMPETITION LAW AND POLICY: IMPLICATIONS FOR UKRAINE"
On May 23, 2019, the second Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Workshop «EU COMPETITION LAW AND POLICY: IMPLICATIONS FOR UKRAINE» took place at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Such topics as the contemporary tendencies of the development of the EU Competition Law and Policies, Ukraine’s commitments in the field of the adaptation of the national antimonopoly legislation to the EU legal standards and collective remedies in the EU Competition Law and consumer protection were discussed during the event. Prof. ERIKA SZYSZCZAK (University of Sussex, the UK) addressed Mastercard Litigation in the UK to demonstrate the peculiarities of the collective redress in the consumer protection issues under the domestic and EU law. Prof. KSENIYA SMIRNOVA (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine) represented the achievements and challenges for Ukraine in the process of the adjustment of the domestic competition legislation to the EU standards
WORKSHOP "CONSUMER PROTECTION IN THE EUROPEAN UNION AND UKRAINE"
On December 12-13, 2018, the first Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Workshop «CONSUMER PROTECTION IN THE EUROPEAN UNION AND UKRAINE» took place at Ivan Franko National University of Ukraine in the cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. The workshop was dedicated to the introduction of the EU standards of the regulation of the relations in the field of consumer protection. The topics addressed at the event included: the compatibility of the Law of Ukraine “On Consumer Protection” to the Association Agreement; scope of the consumer rights and obligations under the EU Law and the Law of Ukraine “On Consumer Protection”; and the consumer protection in digital environment: protection mechanisms under the current legislation of Ukraine. The representatives of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection from Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Volyn and Ternopil oblasts and as well of the business community participated at the event. The event was co-organized by the Lviv Chamber of Commerce, Western Ukrainian Office of the European Business Association and law company «Advice Group».
